Tony Hirschman Wins At Thompson And Gains The Point Lead
 

THOMPSON, Conn. (Aug. 18, 2005) - Tony Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. earned his second consecutive NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory  of  the season in the New England Dodge Dealers/Bud 150 at Thompson International Speedway. Hirschman, driving the Kamco Supply Chevrolet, took the lead from Jimmy Blewett of Howell, N.J. on lap 98 and led the rest of the event.
      It marked the 4th victory of the season for Hirschman and 33rd of his career. Hirschman has also won four of the last 7 races at Thompson. The victory also moved him into first place in the standings 63 points ahead of Ted Christopher. Christopher finished the race in 20th.
     We've been on a roll lately, said Hirschman. Sometimes things just come together and fall into place. Right now this team is experiencing that.  
      Rick Fuller of Auburn, Mass. had his best finish of the season in the Polar Beverages/Red Oak Construction Pontiac by placing second. Eric Beers finished third in the Roby's Propane/Reynolds Auto Chevrolet. Beers has finished in the Top-10 in 9 of the last 10 events. Mike Christopher of Plainville, Conn. finished fourth to earn his first Top-5 finish of the year in the Hill Enterprises/Sunoco Pontiac. Chuck Hossfeld of Buffalo N.Y. rounded out the Top-5 in the Creative Products Ford.
   Doug Coby led the first 80 laps of the race to earn the Tommy Baldwin Memorial Award. Coby gave up the lead to pit under caution and eventually finished 13th.
