STAFFORD SPRINGS, Conn. (Oct 1, 2005) - Donny Lia of Jericho, N.Y. earned his third Bud Pole Award of the 2005 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season in qualifying for Sunday’s Carquest Fall Final. Lia, driving the Huntington Honda Chevrolet, circled the half mile Stafford Motor Speedway in 18.649 seconds for an average speed of 96.722 mph.

Defending NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Tony Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. was second fastest with a speed of 97.171. Current series point leader Ted Christopher of Plainville, Conn. was third fastest with a speed of 96.878 mph. Christopher leads Hirschman by 61 points with three races remaining. Jimmy Blewett was fourth fastest in qualifying, former champion Jamie Tomaino was fifth fastest and Carl Pasteryak rounded out the Top-6.

The Top-6 qualifiers drew for starting position. Pasteryak and Blewett will make up the front row. Hirschman will start third with Tomaino along side. Lia will start fifth and Christopher will be sixth.

Championship contender Chuck Hossfeld who is third in the point standings will start 15^th. Jerry Marquis, who is fourth in the title chase will start 21^st.

Tony Hirschman is the defending champion of the Carquest Fall Final.
