Riverhead Hosts Inspection Days
Riverhead Raceway’s veteran Chief Technical Inspector Walter Bonzcyk announced recently the dates for the annual pre-season safety technical inspection for competitors of Riverhead Raceway for Saturday April 6th and Saturday April 13th from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm both days. The two safety technical inspection dates lead-up to the two pre-season practice days at Barbara & Jim Cromarty’s quarter mile oval Saturday April 20th and April 27th.
Bonzcyk and his staff of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series inspectors urge all race teams that plan on competing at Riverhead during the upcoming season to take advantage of the two inspection dates so they can avoid the process on practice days. No car will be permitted to take part in any on track activity until it has gone through and passed safety tech. Drivers should note the safety inspection will also include their driving gear, helmet, fire suit and restraints. The inspection days are for both the NASCAR stock cars as well the Enduro machines that call Riverhead home.
The two inspection days will run, weather permitting from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm April 6th & 13th. For the two pre-season practice days April 20th & 27th the pit area and inspection area will open at 9:00 am while on track activity will commence at 12:00 noon. In the event of bad weather teams can look to the Riverhead Raceway Facebook page or www.riverheadraceway.com for updates for both the inspection and practice days.
Once all the pre-season activity has been accomplished it will be time to go racing with opening weekend 2013 Saturday evening May 4th for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and Sunday afternoon May 5th for the track’s Enduro series.
