Modifieds and Super Pro Trucks to Headline June 1st
The NASCAR Modifieds and Super Pro Trucks will headline the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series race card Saturday June 1st at Barbara & Jim Cromarty’s Riverhead Raceway with Twin 30’s set for the Modifieds while the Super Pro Trucks will race in a 30-lap main event, both classes will qualify through time trials. The month of June indeed will be a busy one and will culminate on June 29th with The Hoosier Tire 200 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
Shawn Solomito of Islip and Howie Brode of East Islip both swept the first two Twin 30’s back in May with Shawn’s victories coming on opening night May 4th, while Brode took his wins on May 18th. Once again the two drivers find themselves at the top of the early season point standings just months after racing for the 2012 title which Solomito won in the final race of the season last September. Joining Solomito and Brode in the Twin 30’s June 1st will be Ryan Preece of Berlin, Ct., Tom Rogers Jr., of Patchogue, Eric Goodale of Riverhead, John Beatty Jr. of Merrick, Eddie Brunnhoelzl III of Levittown,Timmy Solomito of Islip, Dave Sapienza of Riverhead Jerry Solomito Jr. of Islip, David Roys of Coram, Brad Van Houten of Wading River, Vinny Biondolillo of Farmingville and Glenn Logan of Massapequa among others.
The “tailgate brigade” of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, the Super Pro Trucks will time trial for the first time in 2013 setting the field for their 30-lap contest. Frank Dumicich Jr. of E. Quogue and Lou Maestri of Deer Park are among the early season winners and will look to take home yet another win. Out to stop them will be defending SPT champion Roger Turbush of Riverhead, Frank Dumicich Sr. of East Quogue, Erin Dumicich-Solomito of East Quogue, Mike Albasini of Flushing, Dave Koenig of Freeport, Rob Bader of Holtsville and Mark Stewart of Riverhead.
