Fireworks & School Bus Demo Celebrate I Love America Night

The annual I Love America Night program presented at Riverhead Raceway by promoters Barbara & Jim Cromarty is among the more popular programs presented at the historic quarter mile oval and the 2013 edition will be no exception as a spectacular Fireworks display and School Bus demolition Derby will help the fans celebrate their great country Saturday evening August 24th. A full slate of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stock car racing will be presented as well on Donaldson’s Volkswagen-Subaru night.

The NASCAR Modifieds will highlight the stock car portion of the show as they run a 35-lap main event and will have just four point races left in 2013 including the I Love America Night feature. Joining them will be the daring Figure Eight racers, Chargers and Legend Race Cars. All feature event winners will take home a handsome Donaldson’s VW-Subaru trophy from the Sayville based pace car sponsor. Bill Donaldson along with his brothers John & Dave have provided Riverhead Raceway with a pace vehicle since 1989 with the 2013 VW Passat among the official pace vehicles of the Whelen All-American Series.

Once the entire stock car racing is completed it will be time to both celebrate America and enjoy some great family entertainment events starting off with another breath taking Fireworks display by Long Island’s own Bay Fireworks. Set to patriotic music the Fireworks spectacular is sure to leave fans young and old alike entertained and proud to be an American as was evident by the most recent Fireworks show back on July 6th.

Last and certainly not least will be the second and final School Bus Demolition Derby of the season with the “Cheesebox” Michael Rommeney of Maspeth looking to sweep the wins. In the first bone jarring, bus destroying School Bus Demo, Rommeney barely edged out defending National Demolition Derby champion Jason Savoy of Lake Panamoka for the victory. Once again the huge 13-ton School Buses are set to impress with not just the sight of these machines coming together on the track but also the thunderous sound that accompanies each hit.
