Riverhead and Miller Lite Partner Up for 30th Consecutive Season

Riverhead Raceway promoters Barbara & Jim Cromarty announced in conjunction with Al Frazer of Miller Lite and Boening Brothers distributors that for the 30th consecutive season Miller Lite would return as a seasonal sponsor for the NASCAR Modifieds, Figure Eights and Demolition Derby events in 2014. The new season of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action will open up Saturday evening May 3rd with a seven division program while the second half of opening weekend unfolds Sunday afternoon May 4th with a full card of Enduro racing.

Miller Lite and their Long Island distributor Boening Brothers of Lindenhurst signed on the first season of Saturday night racing in 1985 right after the Cromarty’s bought the historic quarter mile oval just months after Islip Speedway closed its doors forever. Al Frazer, director of marketing for Miller Lite and Boening Brothers reflected, “what a wonderful journey it has been over these past 29 years with the Cromarty family and their first class staff and racers. I’m sure our 30th year together this year will provide the best in short track racing and family entertainment once again and we can’t wait to get going”.

Three Miller Lite nights have been set aside for this special anniversary season with the annual Fireworks spectacular on Saturday evening July 5th just one day after Independence Day. The Cromarty Cup 50 NASCAR Modified race will highlight a card that features the Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars. To close out the night with a bang will be an 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby. The second Miller Lite night will occur on August 23rd, I Love America night that features the wildly popular School Bus Demolition Derby plus NASCAR Modifieds, Figure Eights, Chargers and Legend Race Cars. Then just two weeks later Miller Lite night returns for the final time in 2014 for the Miller Lite National Demolition Derby Championship September 6th plus NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars.

“We are just so thrilled and excited that Miller Lite and the Boening family have been with us now for 30 years” Barbara & Jim Cromarty noted while making the announcement, “we are so proud that our marketing partnership has lasted as long as it has and it might just be the longest in short track racing”.

After two pre-season practice sessions on April 19th & 26th the opening weekend will unfold May 3rd & 4th. The NASCAR Modifieds will battle in Twin 30 main events opening night and are joined by the Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and Legend Race Cars with the first feature event to go green at 5:30 pm. Then Sunday afternoon the cars and stars of the track’s Enduro series will have their opening day with the Grands, 4/6- Trucks & Car and 8-Cylinder classes all in action starting at 12:30 pm.
