Eastern Long Island Racing Prepare for Raceday

Thankfully the bright and sunny skies made for a better turnout of drivers for the second and final round of practice for Eastern Long Island Racing go-karts this past Sunday, March 23. Besides all the go-karters taking to the quarter mile high bank oval that makes up Riverhead Raceway, there were a few Saturday night regulars in attendance.

Jack Handley Jr., driver of the No. 49 Blunderbust, was present to help Junior Champ division drivers, Tyler and Justin Brown to set up their kart in preparation for opening day.

2013 Charger Champion Eric Zeh was also present along with Jason Agugliaro, driver of the No. 69 Modified, who captured the win during the last night of racing for the 2013 season. Agugliaro’s fiancée Theresa Bloomberg was also in attendance helping get the family owned No. 69 Senior Champ Kart revved up.

Helping out as an official for the club was Legend driver, Kyle Ellwood. Ellwood captured the 2012 Legends Championship in the Goodie Motorsports No. 71x.

Go-kart racing is the foundation for the future generation of racers. You can review any division at Riverhead Raceway and half the drivers got their start racing go-karts.

The first two races for Eastern Long Island Racing go-karters are on Saturday April 12th and Sunday April 13th.  Please contact Linda Solomito or John Elwood via Facebook if you have any questions about joining or if you wish to volunteer your time.
