Hagerman Systems Returns as Sponsor for July 26th Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77
On Saturday evening July 26th Barbara & Jim Cromarty will once again remember and celebrate the careers and lives of three of the most successful and popular NASCAR Modified drivers of all time as they present the Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77. A race that has over the years become the signature event on the annual NASCAR Whelen All-American Series schedule. It was announced Tuesday that Hagerman Systems of Hagerman, L.I. would return as the title sponsor of the race.
“It is again a pleasure to have the Denniston family and Hagerman Systems return as marketing partner with this very special race” Bob Finan noted. Hagerman Systems specializes in the transporting of mobile and modular trailers for various uses and is owned and operated by former Riverhead Raceway race director and his son John. “These three legends were not only the most successful drivers of their time but also remained extremely popular and were always very accessible to both the fans and their fellow competitors” John noted after inking the contract. He also recalled how “Tiger” Tim Baldwin especially influenced him on and off the track, “he was my mentor and like a second father to me, on and off the track. I miss him everyday”.
The list of names who have won the 77-lapper over the years is a virtual who’s who of NASCAR Modified racing. Wayne Anderson of Yaphank scored the first win ever in the race and other winners include Ron Silk, Chuck Steuer, Howie Brode and Ryan Preece among others. The 2013 edition was won by Howie Brode of East Islip who eventually went on to win the NASCAR Modified championship for the second time in his career. Among the other drivers expected to compete in the 77 are Ron Silk of Norwalk, Ct., Ryan Preece of Berlin, Ct. Dave Brigati of Calverton and Dave Sapienza of Riverhead all of whom were in the top six in 2013.
Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead will seek the Baldwin, Evans & Jarzombek 77 by Hagerman Systems victory on July 26th as will the likes of Jason Agugliaro of Islip, Eddie Brunnhoelzl III of Levittown, Frank Vigliarolo Jr. of Mount Sinai, Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead, Vinny Biondolillo of Farmingville, John Beatty Jr. of Merrick, Brad Van Houten of Wading River and Ken Darch of Riverhead.
Ricky Jarzombek confirmed with Bob Finan recently that he will again have some of “Charging” Charlie Jarzombek’s famed #1 race cars on hand and is hopeful to debut his latest restoration project the radical Chevette that he and he late brother built. Eddie Partridge will also bring the Wilsburg #5 to the track for the 77, last year that car was driven by former driver Kevin Keillor. The cars will again see some track time during the course of the night.
The Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars will round out the race card.
