Bock Captures 2014 INEX National Qualifier

Brendon Bock, driver of the No. 38 Legend, landed himself as the sixth quickest during time trials and picked the 4th starting position during the redraw.

Due to there only being a 28-car field allowed for the feature and 39 cars present for the INEX event, 17 cars had to battle it out in a consi where only the top five out of that race would be added to the already 22-car feature that was pre-determined by time trials.

Kevin Chew, Jim Sylvester, Gregory Harris, Joseph Graf and Ed Cheslak became the top five and were able to compete in the National Qualifier.

Lap 3 of the 30-lap feature, Brad Van Houten, who was running in second behind pole sitter Vinny Delaney, takes the lead inbetween turns 1 and 2. This allowed both Bock and the 43 of Kyle Ellwood to trail behind him to run second and third.

On lap 9, Bock takes the lead from Van Houten and holds onto it.

With 5 to go, Ellwood tries to charge Bock hard for the lead but Bock won’t budge. Going into the final laps, Richie Davidowitz who set fast time during time trails starts to go neck to neck with Ellwood for second. But as they come around for the checkered, Bock glides over the finish line followed by Ellwood, Kyle Soper, Davidowitz and rounding out the top five, Van Houten.

Tom Rogers Jr. Sweeps Twin 50’s

Tom Rogers Jr. was the third quickest during time trails and his nephew, Michael was able to come out from the grand stands to redraw him the 2nd starting position behind Ryan Preece, who set fast time.

Once the feature began, Rogers took a quick lead in turn 2 and maintained a distance of a car length from the rest of the pack. Rogers was able to capture the first 50-lapper easily as the race went caution free.

As the second 50-lap race began, the finishing line up from the first race became the starting line up for the second, which made Rogers the pole sitter.

The first caution flag flew on lap 39 for a spin by the 06 of Vinny Biondolillo in turn 1. The second caution comes out during the lap 39 restart for a spin by Eddie Brunnhoelzl III.

As the final laps approach, Rogers starts to gain a four-car length lead over Preece as he slides over the finish line. As he not only takes the win but, has successfully lead all laps in both races.

Minieri Takes Home 21st Career Win in Chargers

The first caution of the 20-lap Charger feature event came out before the completion of lap one. Jay Henschel, driver of the No. 54 and who was in the 2nd starting position, jumped the start and was sent to the rear of the field.

The top five for the restart include: Greg Immerman, Cory Midgett, Scott Pedersen, Ray Minieri and Owen Grennan.

On lap 11 the next caution flies when the 07 of John Baker and the 27 of Scott Pedersen collide along with the 38 of Owen Grennan. This caution results in the race being red flagged in order for the track crew to clean the track before the race can resume.

By the restart of lap 11, Minieri is in second. However on lap 14 going into turn 1, he takes the lead from Immerman and runs away with it in order to capture his 21st career win.

First Win of the Season for Rich Hubbard

With Rich Hubbard being the pole sitter, he was able to take an early lead at the start of the Blunderbust feature.

The first caution flag flies on lap 3 when the bumper off of Terry Stiles’ No. 41 car is found sitting in turn 1. He is forced to pit for repairs, but he is able to return for the restart.

The next caution is thrown three laps later, when the 8 of Jessica Cohen spins in the middle of going three wide causing a collision with the 49 of Jack Handley Jr. and the 64 of Ray Shannon.

After the lap 6 restart, a battle over second breaks out between Joe Warren, Tim Mulqueen and Brian Brown. On lap 11, Mulqueen tries to give the chrome horn to Warren in an attempt to move into second but in the process he almost ends up spinning himself out.

In the end, Brown settles for third, Warren captures second and Mulqueen ended up finishing 16th due to a right front flat.

Regardless, Rich Hubbard was able to slide across the finish line in order to capture his first win of the 2014 season.

Maynor Walks Out with 112th Career Win

As the World Famous Figure Eight Stock Cars took to the green flag, it didn’t seem to take long for the front row to fall back to the center of the field. This allowed the 9 of Gary Fritz Jr. to take an early lead. However on lap 6 his lead was cut short when he was spun between turns one and two which brought out the race’s first caution.

Frtiz was automatically sent to the rear of the field for bringing out the caution but so was the 13 of Mike Mujsce Sr. who initiated the spin.

This permitted Roger Maynor to take the lead.

From the restart on lap 6 to the final laps, Maynor was able to maintain his position to secure his 112th career win. Currently Roger Maynor is in first place in the Figure Eight point standings and with this win he developed a 14-point lead over Tom Rogers Jr.

Stewart Battles Hard for Super Pro Truck Win

During hot laps and before the official start of the Super Pro Truck race, Amanda Anderson was put to the rear of the field from the pole position. This then pushed the whole field up and put Frank Dumicich Sr. on the pole.

The first caution flew on lap 2, when the 97 of Dave Koenig smacked into the front stretch wall.

Mark Stewart was then able to move up into second alongside Dumicich Sr. Stewart and Dumicich Sr. began battling door to door for the lead from lap 2 up until lap 6 when Stewart took the lead coming out of turn 2.

Once Stewart takes the lead from Dumicich Sr., he only has to hold off the 66 of Michael Albasini for a few more laps until he is able to take the checkered.
