Artie Pedersen III Captures First Legends Win at Riverhead

Artie Pedersen III, driver of the No. 51 Legend, started on the pole after winning the second heat race earlier in the day. Once the race began, he didn’t hesitate at jumping ahead and claiming the lead.

On lap 7, the 88 of Michael Rutkoski spins on the front stretch and the 36 of Kurt Krieger had unfortunately no where to go, which forced him to smack into Rutkoski and bring out a caution.

On the restart, Pedersen quickly takes off.

With 5 laps to go, the 25 of Richie Davidowitz and the 4 of Kyle Soper begin to battle door to door for second.

As the checkered flag flies, Artie Pedersen III captures his first Legend win at Riverhead and following him across the finish line: Soper, Davidowitz, Brendon Bock and Vinny Delaney.

Stewart Takes Home Super Pro Truck Win

Before features began, Super Pro Trucks took time and although Roger Turbush set fast time, it was Erin Solomito who took to Riverhead’s 1/5 of a mile oval in her father, Frank’s No. 5 Truck, that redrew the pole position with Dave Koenig starting second, Roger Turbush starting third, Mark Stewart starting fourth and Brian McElearney starting fifth.

At the start of the race, Solomito immediately begins to gain a strong lead over the rest of the pack behind her. However it doesn’t take long for Mark Stewart to make his way from his fourth starting position to Solomito’s back bumper.

On lap 11 the race’s first caution comes out when Frank Dumicich Jr. and Dave Koenig collide coming down the front stretch, which causes both of them to crash into the wall in front of the start finish line.

This started a turn of events, which caused Koenig and Dumicich to tangle once more on the restart of lap 11 in between turns 3 and 4. This spectacle forced officials to black flag Dumicich for rough riding. However after the race, Dumicich protested the call and he was able to regain his position over Koenig.

On lap 13, Stewart took the lead over Solomito and takes the win for the Super Pro Trucks.

McDermott Wins in Crazy Late Model Feature

Jeremy McDermott didn’t waste much time when on lap 2 he took the lead from pole sitter, Shawn Patrick and began to leave a length of a straightaway between him and the car running second.

The only moment of the race that wasn’t green flagged was on lap 10 when Shawn Patrick and Kevin Metzger were coming down the backstretch into turn 3. Patrick tangles with Metzger which forces him up onto the wall causing him to ride it like a skate board on a half pipe until he comes to a stop by the turn 4 entrance to the track.

Thankfully both drivers were able to walk away from the incident unharmed.

On the restart, McDermott takes off and glides across the finish line. Following behind him are Mike Bologna, Roger Oxee, Buzzy Eriksen and Chris LaSpisa who round out the top five.

John Fortin Captures Modified Win

After Tom Rogers Jr. set fast time in time trials once again, during the redraw however it was John Fortin who picked the pole.

Once the race began, Fortin begins to run away with it even with point leader, Howie Brode hot on his tail.

On lap 29, Ken Darch and Jeff Goodale collide coming down the backstretch causing Goodale to be towed to the pits by a Brigandi Brothers Tow Vehicle.

Going into the final laps, Fortin still maintains his lead over Howie Brode. Toward the middle of the field, Tom Rogers Jr., Dave Brigati, Vinny Biondolillo and Dave Schneider begin acting practically like bumper cars until the checkered flag flies and Fortin captures the win.
