Cromarty Cup On the Line For Riverhead Figure 8 Racers This Saturday, May 16
The popular Figure Eight class of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Riverhead Raceway will take center stage this Saturday night May 16th at the famed quarter mile oval as they’ll compete in the annual Cromarty Cup 20. The race is run annually to celebrate Barbara Cromarty’s birthday.
Tom Rogers Jr. of Riverhead won the 2014 edition of the Cromarty Cup but not before a classic duel with Roger Maynor of Bay Shore that left the fans on the edge of their seats. Rogers will come to the 2015 Cromarty Cup race seeking his second straight win as he won this past Saturday. It is expected that Rogers and Maynor will again tussle for the Cromarty Cup and be joined by the likes of Mike Mujsce of Quogue, Ken Hyde Jr. of Mastic Beach, Scott Pedersen of Shirley, Tom Ferrara of Patchogue and opening night winner Gary Fritz Jr, of Mastic Beach.
Qualifying for the Cromarty Cup 20 event will be through time trials that will be staged on the oval. Completing the card are the NASCAR Modifieds who’ll run their first 35-lap event of the new season with time trial qualifying and will be joined by the Chargers, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks and Legend Race Cars. Feature events will start at 5:30 pm and be preceded by Legends heats as well as Figure Eight and NASCAR Modified qualifying.
