INEX National Qualifier Set For Riverhead Legend Cars Sat. Aug. 29th
Saturday evening August 29th Riverhead Raceway will host an INEX National Qualifier for the Legend Race Cars as part of the Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac night and Riverhead 200 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour program. Three winning drivers in the Masters, Semi-Pro and Young Lion categories in the 30-lap Legend Race Car feature event will earn starting spots for the US Legend Car International Asphalt Nationals in Anderson, SC November 12-14th.
In 2014 some 39 Legend Race Cars turned out at Barbara & Jim Cromarty’s Riverhead Raceway for the INEX National Qualifier with popular Brendon Bock of Franklin Square topping Kyle Ellwood of Riverhead and Richie Davidowitz of East Moriches for the win. Bock will not defend his race win from last year as he is currently running as a Sunoco Race Fuels rookie on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and will race instead in the Riverhead 200 WMT race. Ellwood and Davidowitz however have both visited Riverhead victory lane in 2015 and indeed will be threats to do so again on August 29th.
Championship leader Dylan Slepian of Dix Hills continues to enjoy his breakout season in Legend Race Car competition winning his 4th race of 2015 on August 1st. Slepian as well as his championship rival Vinny Delaney of Holtsville are both threats to capture the 30-lap win and starting spot at Anderson Speedway in South Carolina for the US Legend Car International Asphalt Nationals starting November 12th.
Other Riverhead Raceway Legend Race Car standouts seeking the INEX National Qualifier gold are, George Tomko Jr. of Aquebogue, Allan Pedersen of Center Moriches, Greg Harris of Riverhead, Shawn Wanat of Riverhead, Ray Fitzgerald of Manorville, Artie Pedersen III of Center Moriches, Eric Hersey of Commack, Chris Rogers of Patchogue, Mike Van Houten Jr. of Jaemsport, Kevin Nowak of Medford, Bryan Kelly of Aquebogue and Brad Van Houten of Wading River.
Time trials will set the field for the 30-lap INEX National Qualifier at Riverhead Raceway August 29th. The winning drivers in the Masters, Semi-Pro and Young Lion divisions from the Riverhead Raceway earn guaranteed starting spots for November 14th. Those teams can only fall back on the guaranteed starting position if they fail to make the race via the qualifying format laid out by US Legend Car officials at Anderson Speedway. The Anderson Speedway is a 3/8th mile oval and has been hosting races since 1963.
Joining the INEX National Qualifying race for the Legend Race Cars at Riverhead Raceway August 29th are the Riverhead 200 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, 30-lap Blunderbust and 20-lap Charger feature events.
