Major Capital Improvements to Greet Riverhead Fans This Spring
With the formal announcement made track side last August that Eddie & Connie Partridge & Tom Gatz had purchased Riverhead Raceway, the Long Island racing community could rest comfortable the future of stock car racing was secure at their beloved quarter mile. During the off season the new ownership trio have furthered their commitment to Riverhead Raceway with a major capital improvement program that will greet fans when they visit the track for the first time on Saturday April 23rd for the first warm-up day of 2016.
Aided by a fairly mild Long Island winter track GM John Ellwood and his staff went right to work on the 66-year old facility under the watchful eye of the new owners. Among the first improvements competitors and fans alike will notice are the restrooms which have been totally gutted and refurbished. All restrooms have had all the old fixtures stripped out with new fixtures installed complete with new interior flooring as well as roofing and siding on the outside.
The concession stands also underwent a major makeover during the winter months as they too were stripped down to nothing and totally rebuilt. Aside from new flooring, roofing and interior & exterior walls, brand new kitchen equipment has been installed to ensure the highest quality food and drink at all three food stands.
For 2016 race fans will enjoy Pepsi soft drink products at the concession stands along with an expanded delicious food menu that fans got a sneak preview of at last years Fall Frenzy Enduro program. New in 2016 will be a Beer Garden located in the third turn midway of Riverhead Raceway that will be the place to be prior to all racing events. The all new Beer Garden will feature live music weekly starting two hours before race time with Miller Lite products being offered along with Twisted Tea and select Wine choices for folks to enjoy before and during the races. The Miller Lite stand in turn one will also serve the expanded drink items.
Eddie Partridge never one afraid of getting his hands dirty recently went to work with some heavy equipment in the parking area adjacent to the pit area at the south end of the track. Eddie removed all the rough terrain in the area ensuring a smoother and more fan friendly parking accommodations moving forward. A general clean up of all the landscape within and surrounding the track has also taken place during the off season.
