Eric Zeh Ready for Double Duty
When the green flag drops on Grand Opening Night at Riverhead Raceway Saturday May 7th one of the busiest drivers at the famed quarter mile will be former two-time Charger champion Eric Zeh of Selden. Zeh announced today that he will be a regular in both the Late Model and Blunderbust classes in 2016 with both part of the seven division Grand Opening Night card that features a spectacular Fireworks display.
“I’m happy to announce we’ve picked up a Late Model from Brian McElearney to compete with this season at Riverhead” Zeh disclosed, “I’m also very excited to announce that Corwith’s Auto Body is coming on board to sponsor us in this new venture”. The Corwith’s sponsorship is a sentimental one for Zeh and his family as the Water Mill based body shop was a prominent sponsor of Eric’s grandfathers championship NASCAR Modifieds driven by Don Howe. In fact Howe will be joining the Zeh’s in their Late Model effort as well.
Zeh also announced that Finishline Demolition & Masonry, Randy’s Performance Center, S&P Carting, Tony Power Kart Supply and Island Fabricating, have signed on as sponsors of the Late Model. Of course the car will carry the traditional #34 of the Zeh family.
As for his Blunderbust ride, Eric confirmed he’ll be once again driving for Frank & Vicki Curtis in the class hoping to contend for the 2016 title. Frank is a former Blunderbust standout as well as the son of former L.I. racing legend Frank “Mississippi” Curtis known for his signature “AOK” Modifieds. The Curtis/Zeh tandem will also run the #34.
“I look forward to teaming with Frank & Vicki again this year and seeing if we can’t make a run at the championship” Eric offered. Marketing partners for the Blunderbust team are Wilson Distributors, along with Robin & Kevin Schwire of Westhampton Auto Salvage.
Excitement is running at an all-time high for the Grand Opening Night at Riverhead Raceway with new track owners Eddie & Connie Partridge & Tom Gatz planning a Fireworks spectacular for the May 7th lid lifter. In addition to the Late Models and Blunderbusts the seven for one race card will feature the NASCAR Modifieds, Riverhead Modified Crates, Figure Eights, Super Pro Trucks and Legend Race Cars.
