Strong LI Influence on NWMT Roster Ready for Riverhead 200 June 25th

A “bakers” dozen, 13 NASCAR Whelen Modified teams in particular are looking forward to the June 25th 200-lapper at Riverhead Raceway hosted by new track owners Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz. Those 13 race teams boast a Long Island flavor in either the car owner or driver and in some cases both.

If there are doubters as to a “home track” advantage they should go ask Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville if there is merit to the theory as he and car owner Ken Massa swept the 2015 WMT 200-lapper at Riverhead. Donny Lia of Jericho was known a few years back as “Mr. August” winning the second WMT races and the former two time WMT is very much looking forward to racing in front of family and friends on June 25th. Another driver with some extra motivation will be Ryan Preece of Berlin, Ct. who will driver the TS Haulers Chevy owned by Eddie & Connie Partridge. With a void in his Xfinity schedule Preece will no doubt be a contender in the 200 lap event.

Former WMT champion Ron Silk of Norwalk, Ct. and his L.I. based car owner Danny Watts are off to a fast start in 2016 having won the May New London Waterford Speedbowl race. The tandem also recently scored two podium finishes in regular Riverhead Raceway NASCAR WAAS action. The brothers Solomito Timmy and Shawn both Islip natives will be tough to beat with Timmy going after his second career WMT and Shawn that all important first victory. Cousins Eric Goodale and Jeffrey Goodale of Riverhead will be in the same boat with Eric seeking his second career WMT win while the younger Jeffrey his first. Eric is also cousins with the Solomito clan.

Former Riverhead Raceway INEX Legend Race Car champion Brendon Bock of Franklin Square is looking forward to the June 25th race at Riverhead as is Dave Sapienza of Riverhead, a former weekly competitor at the facility. Tested tough loyal WMT veterans Ken Heagy of Riverhead and Gary McDonald of Ronkonkoma will be in the field as will impressive newcomer Craig Lutz of Miller Place.

Joining the WMT 200 on Saturday June 25th at Riverhead Raceway are the Late Models, Eagle Auto Mall Crate Modifieds and Legend Race Cars. Feature event racing will start at 7:00 pm.
