Riverhead Raceway & LI Street Rod Association To Present Car Show & Swap Meet
When Eddie & Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz purchased Riverhead Raceway last August they promised to bring several attractions and shows outside the NASCAR racing spectrum to the historic facility. Sunday July 31st they will continue to make good on that promise as they present the Riverhead Raceway Car Show & Swap Meet from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. The event is being sponsored by The Roy Reeve Insurance Agency of Mattituck while the Long Island Street Rod Association serves as the host club.
For years many classic car enthusiasts have asked for this type of event to be staged at Riverhead Raceway and with the track undergoing a complete capital improvement program during the winter months the Partridge’s and Gatz feel now is the perfect time to host such an event. The Car Show & Swap Meet will be open at all year Classic, Custom, Muscle & Special Interest Vehicle Cars and Trucks with admission just $10 per car/truck including the driver. Spectators can come out and enjoy all the wonderful machines for a mere $5 admission, with children 12 and under admitted free.
LISRA and Riverhead Raceway will also be welcoming Vendors to the July 31st Car Show & Swap Meet with a 20’X25′ available for $25, vendor gates will swing open 2 hours prior to the event at 6:00 am. Also part of the festivities is a Car Corral for just $10 for vehicles that are for sale.
Jim Kelly, a former NASCAR Modified driver and current Vintage Race Car winner disclosed that Riverhead Raceway and LISRA will be car showing judging 25 categories with awards to be handed out to the following: Riverhead Raceway Owners Choice, Street Rod Open & Closed, Rockin’ Rat Rod, Cool Kustom, Neat Nostalgia, Unfinished Business, Outstanding Truck & 4X4, Best Of The 40’s, 50’s & 60’s, Vintage Chrysler, Ford & GM Muscle, Retro Chrysler, Ford & GM Muscle, Vintage Orphan Muscle, Vintage Tuner, Retro Tuner, Vintage & Modern Sports Car, Outstanding Paint and Outstanding Engine.
If your into the Classics, Customs, Muscle Cars or Special Interest Vehicles then Sunday July 31st is your day to make your way to Riverhead Raceway which is directly off Long Island Expressway exit 73 just a 1/4 mile east of the Tanger Outlets on Route 58.
Please note no alcohol, pets or weapons will be permitted at the Car Show & Swap Meet.
