Jam Profile: Terrance Fallon

Terrance Fallon wasn’t always the NASCAR Official Tech Inspector at Riverhead Raceway; he was at one point an inspiring Street Stock racecar driver on the West Coast.

About thirty years ago, Fallon had made the big move from his hometown of Syosset to sunny California following his parent’s divorce in order to stay close to his father. While there him and a few of his buddies got together and developed a Street Stock team with Fallon behind the wheel. During his Street Stock career, him and his team had moderate success with one win to his credit. “Winning didn’t matter much to me back then,” said Fallon, “I just loved racing.”

However after several years of racing on the West Coast, Fallon’s wife realized that she wanted to move back to their east coast roots. So after some careful consideration and a longing to be closer to family back in New York for the sake of their children, Fallon and his family moved back. It also wouldn’t be a surprise that not long after they moved back that Fallon ended up on the black top of Riverhead Raceway’s 1/5 of a mile oval.

He began reintroducing himself into the racing community by working alongside fellow racecar drivers such as Hank Hallock, Tom Kraft and Gary Fritz. During this time he worked at Atlantic Auto Mall in Riverhead, which is where he became close friends with Walter Bonczyk. At that time Walter not only worked at the Auto Mall but was also the Head NASCAR Tech Inspector at Riverhead Raceway. Luckily for Fallon, Bonczyk took him under his wing and offered him a job at the track as an Assistant Tech Inspector. Unfortunately last year, Bonczyk suffered a stroke during the race season, which placed Fallon in the position to take charge of tech inspections at the track.

Fallon is now celebrating twelve years at the track and has no plans of leaving anytime soon. “I’m right where I want to be,” said Fallon, “with the people I love and the track I call home.”
