Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac Night Set For Hoosier Tire 200
Since 1985 noted Southampton, NY car dealer Buzz Chew has been a pace car sponsor at Barbara & Jim Cromarty’s Riverhead Raceway and this Saturday night June 27th will serve as the first of two Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac nights on the 2015 schedule. Highlighting the card will be the Hoosier Tire 200 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour with Buzz and his team led by driver Woody Pitkat of Stafford, CT among the teams competing.
After Barbara & Jim Cromarty purchased the Riverhead Raceway from the late Eddie Hawkins one of the very first sponsors signing on with the new track owners was indeed Buzz Chew Chevrolet, who back then was headquartered in East Hampton. The Buzz Chew dealership has long since moved to 656 County Road 39 in Southampton with Chew still providing the track with not one but two pace vehicles. It is expected that the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro from Buzz Chew will again pace the Hoosier Tire 200 field.
In addition to the Hoosier Tire 200 winner taking home a handsome trophy from Buzz Chew, so will the winners in the Charger, Blunderbust and Legend Race Car feature events. While the Chargers compete in a regular 20-lap main event, the Blunderbusts and Legend Race Cars will go 30 circuits with time trial qualifying in effect. All three winner will take homeĀ Buzz Chew Chevrolet-Cadillac trophies as well as some hefty bonus money.
The “L.I. Mod Maniac” Jim Schaefer has announced that the winner of the 20-lap Charger event as well as the 30-lap Legend Race Car event will pocket $1,000. The Blunderbust winner will earn in the neighborhood of $750-$800 for their 30-lap feature. On Saturday morning June 27th Schaefer and his team will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast Fund Raiser at the Applebee’s Restaurant just west of the track on Route 58 to support the bonus money program.
